Good morning and happy Tuesday everyone! Sorry for being a bit MIA last week with posting. I had a lot to figure out around here which I’ll update you all on later this week (possibly tomorrow). For now, I want to talk to you about something super awesome and exciting: my postpartum fitness journey!
I had my 6 week postpartum appointment last Monday and (of course) I passed it with flying colors. I’ve been working out a lot these past 7 weeks to keep myself healthy and to get myself out of the house, but now I’m more than ready to kick it up a notch. After a lot of debate, I finally decided to try out Beachbody and add Shakeology to my everyday life. I feel like I’ve plateaued a little bit with my workout routines and eating healthy has been a little more challenging these last few weeks as well. So I’m hoping this will help me stay on track better so I can start seeing more results.
Now one thing I was a little concerned about with joining Beachbody was the nutrition plan. As some of you may know, I don’t do diets. I just don’t believe in them. They’re short term and I don’t care what anyone says, they just don’t work. What I do believe in is creating a healthy lifestyle and training your body to know what’s good and what’s bad for you. Teaching yourself self control is so important in maintaining that healthy lifestyle. So when I first thought of Shakeology, I immediately looked at it as a diet. And it’s not!
In my Beachbody package, it came with a whole booklet called the Portion Fix Eating Plan. This also came with various tupperware containers which are designed to show you how large your portions should be for fruits, vegetables, carbs, protein, etc. This gives you a really great visual and helps teach you portion control which I find so important to creating a healthy lifestyle. Even I was a bit amazed when I saw the various portion sizes. I’m already pretty good about controlling what I eat and creating a healthy balance of everything but holy moly! I already feel so much more in tune with what I’m eating now that I have that visual of the various portion sizes. This alone is perfect for anyone who is looking to lose weight or even those who are just wanting to be healthier and more in tune with what they’re putting into their bodies (like myself!).
In addition to the shakes and portion fix eating plan, you also have access to tons of workouts to help you achieve whatever goal you set for yourself. So Beachbody is perfect for all types of people!
SO WHICH BEACHBODY WORKOUT AM I STARTING WITH?
I’m starting out with the 21 Day Fix and am currently on day 3 of it (day 4 by the time you’re reading this). By downloading the Beachbody On Demand app and logging into my account, I have access to a ton of awesome workouts so my 21 Day Fix is completely broken down within the app to show me how to do all the workouts as well as what workout to do each day. There’s even a separate app for the 21 Day Fix that allows me to log my workouts and what I’m eating and all that. This has been a great way to track my progress as I continue the program.
WHICH SHAKES DID I ORDER?
Next we have the shakes. I ordered Shakeology in three flavors: chocolate, vanilla, and cafe latte. So far I’m loving all three. Chocolate is definitely favorite so far. I like mixing it with 12 ounces of almond milk, a handful of ice, a banana and sometimes a tablespoon of peanut butter. It’s absolutely delicious AND it’s good for you. That’s a win if you ask me!
MY BEFORE SHOTS AND STATS
So far I’m loving this system as well as the workouts so I’m excited to continue sharing my updates with you all. But of course, with any fitness journey there must be some before photos. So excuse the pudge here (and the messy nursery/office/storage room in the background). These photos were taken on Saturday July 15th which was day 1 of the 21 Day Fix. I’m not trying to lose weight, obviously but I weighed 123 pounds in these photos. I expect to end up gaining weight over the next weeks as I get everything tightened and toned.
So what am I hoping to get out of this program? Well I’m actually hoping to gain a little bit of weight in muscle over the next few weeks. I’m hoping to keep my arms toned while also getting my abs back in shape as well. My abs are currently my target area throughout the next few months so I’m super excited to get those back in shape! And lastly, I’m hoping to get my eating completely under control. It’s time for some new, big changes to my eating habits which I’m hoping will give me even more energy and help me to get my body back in shape. So this next month is going to be huge for me! I want to be looking and feeling better than ever!
Have you tried Beachbody or Shakeology? Did you see the results you were hoping for?
