October Goals

October Goals | Why Hello Lovely

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I can now safely say that I am officially back to blogging full-time. That feels SO good to stay. I’ve missed this blog and all of you so much these past couple months. But we’re finally in a place where we’re settling in and I’m able to focus on my blog full-time again. I have so many exciting things to share with you all this month and have a lot of great content scheduled out so I hope you all love it just as much as I do. It should be a great month!

Since it’s a new month and I’m finally back in the blogging world, it’s the perfect time to start setting some new goals. Since I’ve failed as a blogger lately, I have a ton of blogging goals for this month to get everything back on track and where I want it. I’m also ready to settle into a routine here as well so there are lots of things to get done in October.

BLOGGING GOALS:

  1. Blog 5 days a week. This is the first week in a really long time where there will be FIVE blog posts going live. I’m super excited by this. With everything we’ve had going on, it’s been super hard to stay focused on blogging so I’m really happy and excited that we’re finally settled enough where I can get back to it.
  2. Have all posts scheduled a week in advance. This week, I had all my posts scheduled out last night. And it felt amazing! Now I can spend the week setting up next week’s posting schedule, connecting with other bloggers, and responding to emails. I all of a sudden have so much more time in my week.
  3. Finally hit 10k monthly page views. Surprisingly, I was rather close this past month. I had just over 8k page views for the month of September which is my second highest I’ve ever had. This will be the month that I finally hit the 10k mark. I’m determined.
  4. Update all old posts. This has been a very long work in progress. And then the moment, I’m most of the way through it all, I all of a sudden go through another rebrand. It’s a problem. But this will be the month that everything is up to date and looking good.
  5. Do 5+ sponsored posts. I did my first sponsored post in months this past week and it felt so good to be back on track. I missed working with companies and creating great content. So I’m ready to dive into it full-time again and get everything back on track.

PERSONAL GOALS:

  1. Get back to the gym. I haven’t been to the gym in a month since we’ve been so busy. So now I’m ready to get settled into a routine again and get back to the gym 4-5 days a week. It’ll probably take a couple of weeks before I’m back in the habit of it, but I’m so ready to make it a priority again.
  2. Figure out my school situation. Alright, confession time you guys. I’m completely failing at my grad program right about now. I actually just had to drop the only class I was taking this semester because I hadn’t logged into it in almost 3 weeks. We just had way too much going on between Zack coming home and my dad’s wedding and moving and all that. I got overwhelmed and it just wasn’t a priority anymore. So now I need to figure out if I’m even going to continue my program at all or if I do then am I going to continue doing it online or transfer to a school here in San Diego. Lots of choices to be made.
  3. Read 3 books. At this point, my Kindle app is loaded with books that I have to read. The top one on my list right now is Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks. I pre-ordered it and should be getting it tomorrow. I’m already excited to start it!
  4. Go on a dinner cruise. So many people recommend these and I have yet to go on one. Our anniversary is this week so I’m hoping maybe we can do a dinner cruise that night, but we’ll see. I’d like to do one before it cools down too much.
  5. Cross 3 things off our San Diego bucket list. I created a San Diego bucket list before moving here so that we’d have a giant list of things to do while we’re here. So far, we’ve already crossed off a few items so we’re doing good so far. Now that we’re a little more settled, I hope to do some more exploring this month.

What are your goals for October?

Follow:
  • Welcome back! I’ve missed your posts! 🙂

  • Welcome back to blogging full time!

  • Congrats on getting back into blogging! Good luck with your goals this month! ?

  • We did a champaign lunch cruise in SD a few years ago and had the most amazing time! Good luck hitting 10k page views! I’m sure you’ll nail it!

    • I did a ton of research on dinner cruises today and I really have my hopes up that we can do one this week for our anniversary haha it just looks and sounds so perfect and romantic. Easy way to get out together just the two of us for a few hours. We can spend the day relaxing and getting some work done and then get dressed up for dinner and enjoy the night 🙂 how perfect. And that 10k is driving me insane haha I was 500 page views away from it back in March and then I completely slipped up in April as I was getting ready to graduate and Zack’s homecoming. So I really need to get it this time lol

  • So glad you’ll be back to blogging more often! It definitely must be nice to finally be all settled after everything that’s been going on!

    • It feels SO nice to be more settled in. I’m ready to be even more settled in though and have our own routines and all that. Zack’s still not fully checked into this base so he doesn’t have an actual work schedule yet. This time next month, everything should be “normal” again lol

  • Every time I get myself scheduled out for the week I feel SO relieved! I always try to get it done Sunday so that way my evenings can be spent on other tasks or getting even further ahead!

    • It was such an amazing feeling to have the entire week scheduled out. I’ve been able to focus on so many other things this week like responding to all my comments and emails and connecting with everyone through social media. I all of a sudden have time for other blog-related tasks lol

  • A dinner cruise sounds perfect! Romance at sea!

    • Doesn’t it?! I’m really loving the whole idea! It’s a bit pricey, but I feel like it would be so worth it. It’s like 3 hours long and includes dinner and dancing. It’s great! Easy way to get away for a night just the two of us. So i’m hoping to convince Zack to do it this week for our anniversary. My fingers are crossed lol

  • Great goals! I love the idea of a dinner cruise – and I’m totally behind on exercising too. Ugh!

    • Thanks Rachel! I would LOVE to go on a dinner cruise. It’s like $75/person here though. But I feel like it’s totally worth it. 3 course meal, champaign, a 3 hour cruise around the city, music and dancing. It sounds so perfect. Easy way to get away for a night just the two of us. So i’m hoping to convince Zack to do it this week for our anniversary. My fingers are crossed lol

  • Yes! Your goals sound a lot like mine. I especially love reading books but find no time to sit and read. If you find this challenge as well, you might look into Audible audio books. I enjoy listening to books while I’m cleaning the house, working in the garden or driving. It’s such a win win! Right now I’m listening to 4 hour work week by Tim Ferriss. It is amazing.

    • I love Audible! But my issue there is that my brain is constantly wandering. I could be listening to a book and all of a sudden I’ll realize I have no idea what’s going on because I was distracted doing something or my mind wandered somehow haha maybe I’ll give it another try. I still have the apps on all my devices, but I just haven’t used it in a while.

  • Great goals. I’d love to be able to get back to gym, and post 5 days a week. Thanks for sharing!

    • Thank you! Posting 5 days a week is so hard sometimes. But thankfully this is my full-time job so I have no other distractions as long as my husband’s at work haha it makes it a bit easier to do.

  • Jen

These are awesome goals! I am ready to get back to working out after having E!

    • Thanks Jen! That’ll be me when we have a baby haha I plan to work out throughout the entire pregnancy as long as it’s doctor approved. I couldn’t imagine taking a break for 9 months. I’ve worked too hard to get to where I am with my work outs.

  • Lauren Norton

Great goals! I am impressed that you can post 5 times a week! I struggle to do one – but I also work 35 hours a week, take 9 graduate credit hours, and have to practice. Ha! I’m insane. 😛 Congrats on getting back to full-time blogging. I want to be a full-time blogger eventually. Keep the faith when it comes to your graduate program! I know that it is HARD – like WAY HARD – but in today’s world having that extra academic jump on everyone else is handy. I believe in you! Also, does Nicholas Spark have a new book??? I NEED IT! 😛

    • Girl, posting 5 days a week is HARD. Something always seems to come up and then I only post 3 days or something haha I really want the 5 days a week to be more consistent. My schedule used to be just like yours up until I quit my job to pursue my blog. There just wasn’t enough time in the day to do it all and it was really exhausting me. So something had to go. I have my fingers crossed that I can make my graduate program work. I just graduated with my bachelor’s degree this past May and I think I’m just so exhausted from school. I graduated high school in 2010 and have been in school year round ever since then. I have two degrees out of it, but UGH! I’m tired haha and I plan to continue working for myself so my mind is telling me my master’s really isn’t a necessity. But we’ll see. I’ll have to discuss it with Zack and get it figured out this month. And finally, YES! Nicholas Sparks has a new book!! It’s called Two by Two and it’s released on October 4th 🙂 I’m now impatiently waiting for my iPad to receive my pre-order and download it for me haha

  • These goals are great! I should really sit down and write some goals down for myself 😉 lol

  • Exactly! Setting goals gives me something to work towards each month. Plus it’s a great way to break down larger goals into smaller tasks so that things actually get done haha

  • After blogging for 6-7 years and shutting my old blog down in late 2014/early 2015, I started a new blog in May and have been working on that in addition to teaching from home. My goals this October are to blog 3 times a week. I already have all the posts planned out for all of October and some of November (but I can’t write about most of them yet, because they haven’t happened yet!) I’m also in the process of making my Halloween costume (I’m almost finished!).

    • You are on a roll, girl! haha I have most of October mapped out, but next to nothing in November. I have a few events (and of course holidays) penciled in for those months, but like you said, those haven’t happened yet so I can’t really write them yet. But I definitely need to get a head start on those months and compile a list of ideas. Maybe I’ll do that this week when my husband goes back to work 🙂

  • Welcome back! 🙂 Great goals! I need to read more this month too. My pile of books to read is growing bigger by the day, so I need to focus on that this month! And I’m impressed with your blogging schedule! I max out at about three posts a week!

    • Thanks Laura! I legit just downloaded the new Nicholas Sparks book to my Kindle app so I really need to start reading them. My app is looking like a full library at this point lol and there are definitely some weeks where I really slack and only do three posts. Sometimes things just come up out of nowhere and mess up my schedule haha but I do try really hard to do five posts each week so I’m hoping to keep it up.

  • Lisa

Great goals. I’m working on pre-scheduling posts as well, it makes life so much easier when I keep up with it. I’ve been blogging for over 8 years so updating old posts is taking forever, ha! Good luck!

    • Pre-scheduling it one of those things where it’s SO beneficial, but also SO challenging to do sometimes haha I’d rather work all day on a Sunday scheduling it all out so that I can spend the rest of the week responding to comments and emails and connecting with all of you. I can also focus on my social media a lot more as well. So I’m hoping to make that a habit this month. And good luck on updating those posts!! haha I only have a couple years worth and it’s killing me.

  • Thanks so much Tamara! 🙂

  • I’m so glad you enjoyed this! Blogging 5 days a week seems to be a common goal amongst bloggers haha it can be so challenging some weeks.

  • Awesome goals! I like the separation between blog and personal, I need to get a little better about doing that!

    • Thank you! 🙂 I like to make goals for different areas of my life. Typically I’d also make goals for my health and marriage as well so I’ll probably do that again next month 🙂

  • Great list of goals! Working on updating old content is something I’m really trying to do right now too!
