Healthy Snacks for Busy Women

Healthy Snacks for Busy Women | KeatingBartlett.comSometimes life can get hectic and when life gets hectic, we tend to let our diet and exercise slip. I’m guilty of it. When Zack and I were moving cross-country, I ended up having one big “cheat month”. It was horrible, you guys. I also did not know that I was pregnant yet either so I ended up feeling even more guilty once I got that positive pregnancy test. But during that month, I wasn’t at the gym since half the time was spent in the car or living in hotel rooms and I was eating way too many cheeseburgers, milkshakes and fries (my guilty pleasure combination). Coming from someone who had spent 12 months getting healthy and making better choices for my health and fitness, I was incredibly disappointed in myself for letting my eating habits slip so easily during our trip.

Before leaving Maine, Zack’s mom packed us a ton of healthier snack options for the car ride which helped us a ton (although we still ended up eating bad for actual meals). She packed everything from fruits, to beef jerky to hard boiled eggs. We had just about everything you could think of in the car. Now that we’re more settled and I’m pregnant and constantly up and moving around, I’ve made it a priority to fill our kitchen with healthier snack options. That way, whenever I reach for something to snack on, it’s very likely that it’s good for me. This allows me to snack as much as I want without having to worry about consequences. So today I’m sharing some of my favorite healthy snacks for busy women!

  • Berries
  • Apples and peanut butter
  • Bananas and peanut butter
  • Veggies and dip
  • Fruits
  • Greek Yogurt (if you’re following me on Instagram, you know that I’m currently obsessing over Chobani)
  • Triscuits and hummus
  • Plain oatmeal topped with fresh berries
  • Wheat thins
  • Mixed nuts
  • Grapes
  • Sliced cucumbers and dip
  • Dark chocolate (yes, I’m adding chocolate to the mix! If you need something sweet, then opt for dark chocolate, in moderation!!!)
  • Beef jerky
  • Air-popped popcorn
  • Protein bars
  • Smoothie drinks (but proceed with caution here. Be sure to read the ingredients!!)
  • Oven-baked chips
  • Cheese sticks
  • Hard boiled eggs

What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Why are you copying my posts? You know what your doing, please just seriously stop. It’s highly annoying that you can’t come up with your own original content. I’m flattered that you clearly think so highly of me, but please give it a rest.

This content is actually copyright…you may want to take this down because someone will report this to WordPress! Just fair warning!

  • Thank you for this! It is so important to snack when you are busy and sometimes forget to eat. I am a fan of dark chocolate, because it is healthy and it fills you up a little as well 😀

    • I must say, I’m more of a milk chocolate kind of girl. But if I’m looking for that healthier option, I opt for dark. Still satisfies those cravings!

  • This is a great list! Thank you!

  • Leah

All great ideas. Thank you. As a teacher, I need this list.

  • Courtney Patterson

I love the Laughing Cow cheese wedges coupled with a veggie or fruit. It’s so good to me. I’m also kind of addicted to the garlic flavored Triscuits but hey – there are worse things to be addicted to!

    • The garlic triscuits are amazing! I admit, I’m pretty hooked on them too haha it could definitely be worse.

  • Slagjana Kocikj (Boho Slage)

I really like dry fruits and nuts 😀

  • Grace Lipscomb

    I love string cheese!

    • We go through string cheese so quickly in our home haha our dog loves it too and honestly, my husband ends up giving most of it to him. I maybe get one or two from the package lol

  • Apples and peanut butter are my favs. haha

  • Great list! I actually have to go snack shopping today! Nuts, cheese, and dried fruit are my favorite combo!

    • Thanks girl! We buy cheese SO much in this house. It’s insane haha I think we go through carrots and berries the most, though.

  • Leslie Nichole

That’s a great list of treats and i like them all. So it shouldn’t be so hard to stick to.

    • Thanks Leslie! The only thing I find challenging about sticking with it is the fact that my husband doesn’t eat these things haha he’s not a bad eater by any means, but fruits and veggies just aren’t his thing. So it’s like we’re shopping for two different homes sometimes when we’re buying food. Nothing is shared.

  • Jennifer Ostroski

Ugh, this is exactly what I needed right now. I’ve fallen into the rut of just going to the company store to buy a snack but I know (and love) all these options are so much healthier. It helps to have a list in front of me!

    • I’m constantly buying snacks. It’s so bad. That’s why I opted to fill my kitchen with healthier options so I’d be less likely to buy the bad ones haha if I’m on the go then I just take my snack with me.

  • These are great suggestions! I love doing rice cakes with PB2. Otherwise string cheese is usually my go-to 🙂

    • Thanks Erin! I think anything with peanut butter is amazing haha it’s such a universal food item. It goes with everything.

  • Don’t they?! They’re my favorite snacks to have in the house.

  • Nut butters are like a gateway drug for me…I try to avoid them unless I know it’s my cheat day because they’re just too good!

    • Haha I really don’t have cheat days. I have cheat moments, I guess is the best way to explain them. I might eat great all day and then cave in and have a pop tart or a bowl of ice cream after dinner or something. I’d feel so icky if I had a whole day of cheating haha

  • Rachel Catherine

These are great ideas. I always have trouble thinking of a good list of options.

    • Thanks Rachel! I’m horrible at thinking of options on the spot so I actually have most of these written down in Evernote so I have it with me whenever i’m at the grocery store haha

  • Ashley Stephenson

Apple and PB is my go to snack!! Sometimes I may put a little too much PB on them!

  • Natasha Smith

I’ll take some dark chocolate yes for a snack! But I love apples and peanut butter…great for an after workout snack too!

    • I love just about anything with peanut butter haha it’s such a universal food item. So many things go great with it!

  • Carly Ferguson

What a great list! I love a piece of fruit and fruit/nut bites or a smoothie for a snack!

  • Tatyanna Picou-Baptiste

I used to have beef jerky all of the time! You just reminded me to add that to my snack list again.

    • My MIL packed a ton of it in our travel bag for our road trip here and I ate it all on the first day haha I hadn’t had it in forever! I’ll have to pick up some more the next time I’m at the store.

  • Ummmm care to share the brand?! haha we’re huge popcorn fans in this house. We currently have about four different flavors in the cabinet right now.
