Fall Date Ideas | Keating & Co.

It’s autumn!  Aside from summertime, autumn is my favorite season.  I love the cooler weather and beautiful fall foliage.  The seasonal decorations, hay rides, apple picking, fall candle scents.  It’s all so wonderful.  I grew up in New England where fall is a pretty big deal.  If you’ve never visited this part of the country, then you really need to add it to your travel bucket list.  And when you go, you need to do it during the fall months.  I promise you’ll love it!  There are so many fun things to do this time of year and it’s the perfect season for date days/nights with your significant other.  So here are 15 of my favorite fall date ideas:

  1.  Have a night in and have a scary movie marathon.
  2. Go on a hike to see the beautiful fall foliage.   You can even bring a picnic!
  3. Visit a state or local fair and stuff your face with fair food (funnel cake, fried dough, caramel apples, blooming onions; try them all!).
  4. Visit a haunted house.
  5. Carve a pumpkin together (or turn it into a competition and see who’s pumpkin turns out better!).
  6. Get lost in a corn maze.
  7. Go on a hay ride.
  8. Make an apple pie together (or any type of pie you like!)
  9. Create a fall bucket list.
  10. Visit an apple orchard to do some apple picking (don’t forget to get some hot apple cider!).
  11. Take a weekend trip to see the foliage. Stay in a small bed and breakfast and explore all the country stores.
  12. Build your own scarecrow.
  13. Go coffee shop hopping to find the best pumpkin spiced latte (or any other festive drink, if you’re like me and don’t like pumpkin).
  14. Spend an afternoon trying on costumes in a costume store (my favorite is Spirit Halloween!).
  15. Binge watch the 13 days of Halloween on ABC Family.

What are your fall date ideas?

  • Yes, number 15 is my jam! haha

    • I’m SO excited for the 31 Days of Halloween to start!! It’s my favorite haha

  • Kait

I’m not sure if Hawaii has apple orchards (I don’t think we do 🙁 ) but! I love that idea!

    • It was a little challenging to find apple orchards in our part of North Carolina too. They’re everywhere in New England. Same with Christmas tree farms. No one in North Carolina knew what they were haha

  • It’s not going out, but I love fall bonfires w/ my love! Getting to cuddle up under a blanket by the fire can be really romantic!

    • I also love bon fires! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that one! We love spending time next to a fire with some music and drinks. Great idea! 🙂

  • Bianca

    Such cute ideas! Thank you

  • Rae

My husband hates 12 Days Of Halloween, but I win. 😉

    • My husband wont be around to watch it with me this year so I don’t have to worry about it haha we watched a little bit of it last year.

  • Dayne Prescott

I LOVE the build your own scarecrow idea. How fun and sweet!

    • My parents used to make one every year and they always came out awesome! I’ve never tried it though so I may have to this year haha

  • Chrissa – Physical Kitchness

GREAT ideas! So many times we can’t go on ‘traditional’ dates because we have a baby, but these ideas are perfect and do-able for new parents like us!

    • Kids could totally come on these types of dates too! They’re fun for the whole family! 🙂

  • Jen

These are all awesome ideas, we love fall so much!

    • Thanks Jen! I also love fall! It’s such a wonderful season 🙂

  • I love everything about fall and this list makes me happy. I can’t wait to do some of these with my boyfriend. Thanks for sharing this.

    • I’m so glad you loved it Jasmine! There are so many awesome date ideas for this time of year.

  • I am so ready for cooler weather and for the husband to put a fire pit in the backyard! I’m ready for a night with friends and family around the fire, with cocktails, games, and laughter.

I’m not sure I get the husband to come with me, but I’d like a trip to the mountains for the fall. Some camping maybe?

    • We love bon fires. We do them a lot in the summertime with friends. Some good food, music, and drinks. It’s the perfect combination!

  • Such sweet ideas! Minus the scary movies haha when you live out in the boonies, you avoid all that sort of stuff! hahaha

    • Haha I love scary movies! The house I’m currently living in is surrounded by woods which makes it a little more creepy, but they’re still so much fun!

  • ashley

Man! I love fall and this post is one of the MANY reasons! Awesome date ideas. There are so many awesome things to do for dates during the fall! <3

    • There really are! This has to be my favorite time of year! 🙂

  • idhcstyle

this is awesome!!! i will definitely be using a lot of these ideas for me and the hubby!!!!!!!!! <3

  • Love that idea. I tell my husband every year that we should do more fall stuff but when we look around Fall is over and we’ve lost the opportunity! It’s so sad. I’ll definitely refer back to this list for some ideas! Though the hubs hates scary movies and I LOVE them! 🙂

    • I feel like fall is way too short of a season. Especially in the more northern states. Fall is literally from like mid-September through the end of October. SOMETIMES it lasts until mid-November and then it’s just too cold haha

  • Allison Ellzey

Reasons why Fall is the best—all of the reasons you listed above!

  • Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t like pumpkin flavor haha even my husband thinks it’s strange because to him, I’m a “typical white girl”, especially with my Starbucks. So he was shocked to learn I had zero interest in pumpkin spiced lattes haha

  • I can’t wait to go on a hike again and the festivals this time of year are amazing!!! I thought I was the only person on the planet who wasn’t obsessed with pumpkin flavored everything!!!

    • I have hikes and festivals all planned out this year! I can’t wait! haha
