Hello lovelies! I hope you all had a great weekend. Today I wanted to talk about health with you all. Living a healthy lifestyle is so important to me and it’s my hope that you all take your health seriously as well. Living healthy doesn’t have to mean you’re constantly living on diets and only eating organically or anything like that. You’ll never catch me dieting or switching to all organic EVERYTHING. Most times, you wont even catch me making modifications to any of my meals, really. To me, that’s an extreme and no one needs to go to that extreme unless you truly want to (or it’s recommended by a health professional. Remember, I’m not a doctor!). Choosing to live a more healthy lifestyle can be an adjustment and sometimes it can even be overwhelming when you’re not used to it. It’s so much bigger than going on a diet for a few weeks or months. It’s sometimes a full shift in your lifestyle. But choosing to live a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be challenging. In fact, it can be relatively easy. Here are 8 super easy ways you can improve your health this week and start your journey to living a healthy lifestyle.

DRINK MORE WATER.

Drinking more water has so many great health benefits to it. I cannot stress it enough. Water is pretty much the only thing I drink these days aside from the occasional cup of coffee or glass of milk. It gives you so much natural energy and does so much good for every part of your body: your heart, your liver, your skin, your brain. It affects every part of your body. There’s no way to go wrong when you choose to bring more water into your life.

GET AN APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF SLEEP.

I know this is easier said than done sometimes, but this is so crucial to starting your day off on a good note. Not getting enough sleep at night can make you feel sluggish throughout the day which makes it harder to stay focused and perform at your best. So stop staying up until 3am and get some more sleep!

HIT THE GYM.

This has been the holy grail for me this past year. As many of you know, I’m at the gym practically every day. Sometimes it’s a little obsessive, but it’s done so many wonders for my mental and physical health. Not only am I looking better, I’m feeling better. When you get in a work out, your body releases endorphins. The same chemical that is released when you fall in love. It’s the happy chemical. And who doesn’t want more happiness in their lives?

MEDITATE.

Take a few minutes out of your day to unplug from technology and completely clear your mind of stress. This can be a hard task to achieve, but when you’re able to clear your mind, you’re better able to move forward with your day and stay focused on the tasks ahead. This is an essential practice for those who suffer from anxiety.

ELIMINATE SOMETHING TOXIC FROM YOUR LIFE.

This can be a substance, a person, a job, a situation. I removed soda from my diet back in March and have been feeling a million times better ever since. Another big thing I’ve removed from my own life is toxic people. Anyone who doesn’t love and support me. It’s crazy how much of a difference it makes on our overall health when you climate people like that. It makes it so much easier to stay focused on what you want in life and achieve your personal goals. Whatever it may be for you that’s toxic in your life, eliminate it this week.

TAKE A YOGA CLASS.

Like the gym, yoga can be such a great stress-reliever. Not only that, but it’s an awesome way to increase your strength and flexibility as well. I started yoga again a couple weeks ago on Mondays and Fridays and it’s such a great way to start and end my week. I try to take classes that are in the mornings so that it’s a healthy way to start my day as well. It really sets the tone for the day and makes me more likely to continue making healthy choices throughout my day.

WRITE DOWN 10 THINGS YOU’RE THANKFUL FOR TODAY.

This is another great one for mental health. For those of us who suffer from depression and anxiety, it can be super beneficial to take time out of your every day life to focus on something you’re thankful for. Something that’s making you happy that day. I especially try to do this on the days where I’m feeling the most stressed. It helps so much to take a step back from whatever is stressing me out and focus on something good.

I just never liked min growing up so I almost never got enough of it throughout the day. Nowadays, I’m much better and drink a glass or two of milk each day. Those vitamins are so important to our health!

    • These all happened very gradually for me over the last 6-12 months or so. It’s crazy how amazing I feel now compared to how I did a year ago. And a year ago, I really didn’t think there was anything wrong with my health haha NOW I see that I had been making a lot of health mistakes in my life. I’m so glad I made those changes and have worked so hard to continue them.

    • Thanks Joscelyn! I don’t know what I’d do without melatonin some nights. I could easily just lay in bed until 2am, staring at the ceiling and still feel wide awake. It’s horrible! And then I end up sleeping in the next day. It’s such a bad cycle.

  • I love drinking water. I can’t tell you how much I drink daily. I am on a new work out high. Trying to get back into being in better shape. It’s definitely important to exercise for your health. As far as sleep goes, I love my sleep. I try to make sure I get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Great tips girl!

    • Thanks girl! I literally drink water all day every day. I have a 24 ounce water bottle that I constantly refill throughout the day. It’s the easiest way for me to get the recommended amount without having to think about it as much. And I’m so glad you’re working on getting in shape! That’s so important. It took me a while to get into the habit of it, but now I go so often that I almost feel guilty on the days I take off haha but I just love how amazing I feel afterwards. I’m hooked.
