5 Awesome Benefits of Exercise

5 Awesome Benefits of Exercise | Why Hello Lovely

We all know that I am obsessed with working out these days. If I ever have free time in my schedule, you can typically find me at the closest gym, trying to build my muscles or beat my personal record for my mile run. If you saw me in the car driving to the gym, you’d think I’m driving to Disney World. Yup, I get that excited for it (and in fact, I’m heading there right after I type this up!). Working out has had such a positive impact on my life this past year. When Zack left for Japan, my top goal was to get back in shape and start working out again. I knew it would be good for me, but never in a million years would I have guessed just how much it would improve my life. Now, I recommend it to everyone. So here are five awesome reasons to get your butt to the gym this week:

It’s good for your mental health.

It’s a fact that exercise releases endorphins which can greatly improve your mood. Studies have shown that exercise can alleviate symptoms in those who suffer from depression and I think it’s safe to say that working out has done wonders for my depression and anxiety this past year. Honestly, I don’t think I’d be where I am today, mentally without my workouts. If I’m ever having a bad mental health day, I immediately get my butt to the gym because 9 times out of 10, it leaves me feeling a million times better. It used to be hard for me to get myself to the gym on my bad days and I know this can be a challenge for others as well. But I promise you, it’s so worth it to find a way to convince yourself to go. Even if you only go for a short period of time, you’re still one step ahead of those who chose not to go at all.

You’ll have more natural energy.

I cant even begin to tell you how much natural energy I have these days. Between working out 5 days a week and drinking a ton of water, I’m feeling amazing. Nowadays, I don’t drink coffee for the energy boost, I drink it because it tastes good. Because of this, I’m not drinking it every day (or even multiple times a day) which has saved us a ton of money (who doesn’t like saving money?!). Working out first thing in the morning can set the tone for your entire day and give you the energy boost you need to get through your day.

It keeps you healthy.

We all know that working out keeps us healthy and in shape. That shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. But did you know that it also keeps your entire body functioning properly? First off, it can prevent cognitive decline. Exercise can’t “cure” diseases such as Alzheimer’s, but it boost the chemicals in your brain that support and prevent degeneration of the parts of the brain that cause these illnesses. In turn, exercise can also sharpen your memory as well because it increases production of the cells responsible for memory and learning. And of course we all know that exercise does wonders for your heart’s health as well. I won’t overload you with a million facts associated with working out, but just know that exercise keeps your organs running smoothly so that you can live a long and happy life.

It increases strength and flexibility.

It’s always a good idea to build muscle and increase your flexibility. I’m not saying you have to go to the gym and get buff. I definitely do not want to end up looking like a body builder or anything like that. But it does help improve your muscle strength and muscle mass. And increasing your flexibility can prevent you from pulling a muscle or seriously injuring yourself. Everyday tasks become easier when you increase your mobility. Of course many of you already know these things, but did you also know that increasing your strength and flexibility can help your bones and internal organs as well? Having more muscle helps your body burn calories, increases blood circulation, and keeps your bones strong.

It improves your self-confidence.

Not only has working out improved my mental health, it’s improved my self-confidence as well. I instantly felt more attractive and better about myself even after just a couple work outs. Now that I’m actually seeing the results from all my hard work, my self-confidence is through the roof. This is the happiest and most healthy I’ve ever been and it’s an amazing feeling. Now that my health is back on track, I feel like I can take on the world (which I totally plan to do).

At the end of the day, working out can leave you feeling happier and 10x more healthy. There are too many health benefits associated with working out so your health alone should be a good enough reason to work out today!
