Lately, I’ve been super into styling my hair every morning. My hair is super thin and flat and honestly it just gets very boring after a while. I love to keep my hair long, but when it’s literally just hanging there, it looks horrible. So over the winter, I bought a new curling iron and completely fell in love with it. I now use it on my hair every single day. But while I love doing my hair every day, sometimes it can be a bit time-consuming. Not many people have the time or patience to spend 30+ minutes just curling their hair. Especially when you have a full-time job or kids or God forbid you choose to get an extra few minutes of sleep that morning. A 30 minute hair care routine just isn’t always doable. So after a little trial and error, I found an awesome way to quickly and easily curl your hair in roughly five minutes (I say roughly because this is going to greatly vary depending on your hair type and how fast you’re able to curl hair).

So first and foremost, it’s important to start with clean hair. Or at least for me, it’s always helpful. Currently I’m using the Schwarzkopf Gliss™ Ultimate Moisture Shampoo, Schwarzkopf Gliss™ Ultimate Moisture Conditioner, and the Schwarzkopf Gliss™ Ultimate Moisture Anti-Breakage Treatment. I picked these up from Walmart and they were super affordable to add to my hair care collection! With it being summertime, it’s so important to keep your hair moisturized and looking healthy. Chlorine from pools and the salt water from the oceans can really take a toll on your hair and leave it feeling dry and damaged. That’s why I stick with a hair care system that puts that moisture back in my hair and repairs any damage caused by my summertime activities. I start out with the Ultimate Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner and then to complete the system, I’ll use the Anti-Breakage Treatment a couple times a week (or whenever I’m out in the sun or in the water for an extended period of time).

Gliss™ Hair Repair is a new line in the U.S. that focuses on hair repair and keeping your hair happy and healthy. Gliss products are scientifically designed to repair hair, whether the damage is from styling, coloring, activity, or the nature of the hair itself. In addition to the Ultimate Moisture Line, Gliss™ Hair Repair also comes in four other sub-lines: Ultimate Repair (provides 3x the amount of liquid keratin for extra strength repair), Oil Nutritive (for split ends), Extra Volume (for added volume) and Color Guard (for protecting color). Whatever line you choose, you can count on Gliss™ Hair Repair to leave your hair feeling and looking healthier. Now before touching your hair with any heated product, I always recommend you use a good heat protectant first. This will prevent your hair from becoming damaged from the heat of the curling iron, straightener, blow dryer, or whatever it is that you’re using. Be sure to spray enough on your hair so that it’s all covered, but don’t completely drench it. I then comb through it and allow it to set for a minute or two so that my hair isn’t damp when I go to curl it (otherwise you’re not going to be able to lock in the curls). Sometimes I’ll put in the heat protectant, do my makeup and then come back to it. Whatever works for you and your schedule!

After I’ve protected my hair with a good heat protectant, it’s time to start curling. Any curling iron or wand will do. I’m currently using a basic curling iron from Walmart. Nothing too fancy. I also have a couple curling wands that I love and use frequently as well. Whatever works best for you and your hair! It doesn’t have to be some fancy curling iron or anything like that.

Once I’m ready to get started on my hair, then I flip my hair upside down and put it up into a loose ponytail on top of my head. I try to get it as high as I can just so I can see it better in the mirror as I’m working on it. Makes my life so much easier! From there, I just begin working through each strange until they’re all curled. I typically take about 1-inch strands at a time and hold the curl for 10 seconds. If I have a little more time to work with then I’ll hold it for 15-20 seconds.

Now as mentioned above, the time it takes to actually do this is going to depend on your hair type and how long you’re holding each curl. My hair is super thin and flat and thankfully it curls relatively well. My sister’s hair, on the other hand, is super thick and it’s next to impossible to get her hair to hold a curl. It’s horrible. I cringe whenever she asks me to curl her hair. It’s that hard to curl. So don’t get discouraged if your hair type takes a little bit longer to curl than mine. This is still generally the fastest and easiest way to curl hair if you’re in a time crunch!

Once you’ve curled every strand, you’re free to take down the ponytail. You can even choose to leave your hair up for the day if you’re more of a ponytail kind of girl! Adding the curls is an easy way to change-up a simple look. I like to have long, loose curls as opposed to short rightly wound ones so to achieve this, I like to run my fingers through the curls to loosen them up a bit. If you like them the way they are, then leave them as is! Depending on how they come out and how much time I have left, I’ll also run my curling iron through a couple of the curls if needed for some touch ups. To make them last all day, be sure to lock them in place with your favorite hair spray or finishing spray. I currently use a finishing spray rather than a hairspray because I feel like it doesn’t weigh down my hair as much or give the curls a stiff feeling like hairspray does. I also have a great curling mousse that I use occasionally as well. So use your favorite go-to product to get the look you want.

From here, you are good to go! This look is super simple and quick to do so it’s perfect for the days where you sleep in late or just don’t have enough time or energy to do a full hairdo. It takes five minutes, but it looks like you spent 30 on it. Perfect for any busy woman!
